1 | Strengthens your brand
Your brand is the voice, the image, the representation - physical and material, of your company. It is what your audience will see, hear, or interact with and make a decision or judgement on. A professional email address should be part of your brand. The interaction your customers or clients will have with you and your business via your email can make or break your professional image.
Would you trust an email from firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com? Which one appears to be more professional? I can tell you right now, the later is the most professional out of the two and therefore is more trustworthy. This, in turn, strengthens my brand and image to my audience.
2 | Frist impressions count
When being contacted by a potential client via email, or replying to an email enquiry the first encounter will be through my email address. That first impression counts. Not only does it make my business look professional, it gives them the impression that I am serious about my business, and that is important. Using a branded email address can irradicate any doubts that my business is fake and more importantly will reduce the likelihood of making my email look like spam!
3 | Builds trust and credibility
If I asked you to send personal information to an email address like firstname.lastname@example.org would you feel comfortable knowing it is a legitimate business? When using a branded email address I know I am providing a sense of security to my clients which build and reinforces their trust in me and my credibility.
4 | Promotes your brand
One of the best things about a professionally branded email address is that it is a great way to market your business and your brand everytime you send an email.
5 | It’s affordable
Branding your emails shouldn't cost the earth, and luckily it doesn't! There are a few ways to set up a branded email address. I use G Suite (previously Google Apps) to create my branded email address as they are partnered with Squarespace which is the platform I use to run my business and blog.
The billing aspect of signing up to G Suite for my branded email address is handled by Squarespace. With regards to pricing, at the time of writing this article, there are 2 plans:
- Monthly Plan
- Annual Plan
